Welcome to Deaf Active

We are a not-for-profit, tirelessly dedicated to promoting inclusive youth and play services for D/deaf children and young people, CODA’s (Children Of Deaf Adults), Hard of Hearing children and their hearing family members and friends.

We are a vibrant young charity working to support, promote and enhance the lives of D/deaf children and young people throughout the boroughs of Merseyside. Examples of what we offer include:

Fitness

Our Active Fitness Programme offers a variety of community-based gym sessions designed to help people stay active, improve their health, and build confidence in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Courses

With Deaf Active, sign language is for everyone, regardless of age. We not only deliver the standard Signature-accredited British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 course, but we can also tailor courses to meet the specific needs of companies, organisations, and businesses across both the public and private sectors.

What is Deaf Active?

Did you know that approximately 18 million people in the UK are deaf, have hearing loss, or experience tinnitus? That is roughly 1 in 3 of the adult population.

Deaf Active was established in 2004 as a community group dedicated to supporting the d/Deaf community in Merseyside.Following our growth and impact, we achieved registered charity status in 2009. We are committed to empowering Deaf and hearing children, young people, and adults through inclusive play, BSL training, and wellbeing services.
